Leading Public Worship - A Workshop

Leading Worship (800 x 400 px)

Come and join us for a day's workshop about Leading Public Worship. All active and aspiring worship leaders are warmly invited. It's a shortened form, a 'taster', of the Prepare-Feed-Sustain (PFS) module** of the same name given by SWBA's very own Rev. Tim Parkman. It's an excellent day covering both the scriptural (theological - but not heavy!) and practical aspects of leading public worship.

The workshop is completely free, there is no charge, but an optional donation box will be available should you wish to contribute.  There's no 'exam' for you to do afterwards! So relax! Just come for the day, enjoy the experience and hopefully broaden and deepen your gifting, understanding and application in this vital ministry.

Date: Saturday 9th December from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
Venue: Brixham Baptist Church, Market St. Brixham, TQ5 8EU

It is a "bring your own lunch" day, but tea, coffee, soft drinks, biscuits and fruit will be made available for free throughout the day.

Please book your place using the form below, and the details will be sent to the church office. This helps us to plan with numbers attending. Thank you.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

church

When and Where

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving a bit early to get a parking spot in the public car park that is behind the church, to the rear of the main bus stop. Sadly we are a town centre church and without onsite parking. When you arrive, you will be greeted by our Welcome Team.

Accessibility:

There is wheelchair access, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets at the rear of the church and also in the Front Room café.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10.30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members and a relaxed and informal style and usually lasts about 75 minutes. In the service there is sung worship, prayers, sharing of testimonies and stories together and bible-based teaching to encourage us to apply our faith to our everyday life. We usually finish with the children and youth joining us and sharing what they have been doing that morning. There is always an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service or ask questions. We serve drinks and biscuits after the service ends. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

And if you are not yet a believer, or have questions about the Christian faith, then you will be welcome too as we feel everyone is on a journey which is best travelled together.

What about children and youth?

We have a great programme lined up for children and youth, called ShineShine is a central part of our Children, Youth and Families Team activity. It's a great way for families to start Sundays! All children and young people are welcome, and parents and carers can stay as well (in fact you are encouraged to!) A Welcome Team member will be very happy to direct you to the leaders relevant to the age(s) in question.
